Dennis Downing, CEO and Founder of Future Industrial Technologies

Dennis Downing graduated from Bridgewater State College, Massachusetts in 1976. In 1977 he began working for Sony’s largest business dealership in the US. Dennis was Sony’s second highest salesperson in the country, selling business product solutions to corporate America. He became Area Manager, Division Manager and Vice President of the corporation during his 10-year career there.

In 1988 Dennis left that corporation and moved to Santa Barbara, CA. In 1990 he became the Vice President of Sales for National Workers Compensation Corporation (NWCC). It is here where he became familiar with the problems corporations face with regards to on-the-job injuries.

While working for NWCC he had a chance meeting with Dr. Robert Handelman, an expert in biomechanics and stretching movement. With Dr. Handelman’s technical expertise and Dennis’ experience in sales and training, Mr. Downing founded FIT for the purpose of helping companies to control workers’ compensations costs.

Dennis had the vision of establishing an organization with professional injury prevention trainers throughout North America capable of servicing the largest companies on the continent. This vision was followed by exact sales and marketing strategies, scripts, and “how to’s”, to attract like minded health care providers to deliver the BIONOMIC principles that were evolved to prevent injuries the workplace.

He has guided the evolution of a training methodology, technically headed up by Dr. Handelman that is unparalleled anywhere in the world today. Under his guidance FIT is positioned to become the world leader in workplace injury prevention strategies.

He is a frequent presenter at several national conferences including the National Workers’ Compensation and Disability Conference, the California and Texas Workers Comp Forums, etc.

Dennis Downing has a passionate desire to help corporations to control costly workplace injuries while enhancing the quality of life for the everyday worker across North America.

Dr. Vincent Portera

Dr. Vincent Portera, Vice President Technical Services

Dr. Portera graduated from Long Island University, C.W. Post College, NY in 1979 and the Los Angeles College of Chiropractic in 1985. He is a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and a Doctor of Chiropractic. He was a practicing chiropractor until 1998.

At that time he became a company Injury Prevention Specialist and based on his skills, was hired to be the company’s top operations executive in 1999. Dr. Portera manages the delivery team and is ultimately responsible for all training services delivered.

Dr. Portera can perform many key functions within the company. He is a superb sales person and presenter and is a frequent lecturer on biomechanics and related topics at Risk Management and Workers’ Compensation Conferences throughout the United States.

He has also been an instructor on the extension faculty of the University of California Berkeley, teaching courses on ergonomics, biomechanics and creating a safe working environment.
